Many truly world-class attractions can be found just a short distance from the resort of Torremolinos. Nearby, the inviting attractions of both neighbouring Malaga and Marbella often entice visitors from Torremolinos. A slightly longer drive but still within easy reach of Torremolinos are the attractions of both Seville and Granada, two of the most famous cities in Spain.

Malaga

Malaga stands to the east of Torremolinos and Marbella, along the Mediterranean coastline. Around 16 km / 10 miles from Torremolinos, Malaga contains many spectacular beach attractions, such as La Malagueta Beach, La Misericordia Beach, Las Acacias Beach and Chanquete Beach. Based around the scenic Bahia de Malaga (Bay of Malaga), this popular resort is just a short drive from Torremolinos. Marbella

This extremely popular coastal resort stands to the west of both Malaga and Torremolinos and features many breathtaking beaches, particularly along the 'Golden Mile', together with the City Boardwalk (Paseo Maritimo). Marbella is located 47 km / 29 miles west of Torremolinos and can be reached in just 30 minutes. With a population of around 121,000 and many alluring attractions, Marbella is an exciting city, often attracting visitors from Torremolinos. Many attractions in Marbella are based around the attractive coastline, with a range of water sports available. Seville

Known locally as Sevilla, Seville is now Spain's fourth largest city and has long been the capital of the Andalusia area, being within driving distance of Torremolinos. Situated approximately 225 km / 140 miles northwest of Torremolinos, Seville has a population of around 720,000, with much of the city being pedestrianised and many top attractions standing close to each other. Top Seville attractions include the vast Parque Maria Luisa in the city centre, the semicircular Plaza de Espana, Seville's 15th-century cathedral, the scenic River Guadalquivir, and a good selection of notable museums and art galleries.

Granada

The busy city of Granada lies to the northeast of Torremolinos and is easy to reach by car. Located approximately 146 km / 91 miles from Torremolinos - a journey of around one and a half hours, Granada has a population of around 240,000 and many outstanding attractions, which prove a popular alternative to the beaches and coastlines of Torremolinos. Much of the city is dominated by the 13th-century fortress of Alhambra, which overlooks central Granada. A significant university city, Granada University (Universidad de Granada) is a vast complex with around 60,000 students. Other attractions which always appeal to visitors from Torremolinos include the ancient Albayzin Walls (Murallas del Albayzin), and the Historic Baths (El Banuelo), both of which date back around 1,000 years.
